Reducing Enlarged Pores with Dermapen Microneedling

Although not a medical condition, enlarged pores can be a concern for those wanting to achieve smooth, flawless-looking skin. Pores are the tiny dots we see on our skin texture which release sebum (oil) and can often appear as larger openings over time. While they serve an important function in our skin, large pores create a noticeable texture to the surface of the skin and can make the application of makeup uneven in appearance.

What causes large pores?

Enlarged pores are usually more visible on the nose, cheeks, and chin regions, and can stem from a number of causes. One factor is sun damage and ageing, causing the skin to lose its elasticity and strength, so pores become more dilated. Hormones and acne can also be a contributing factor, causing an excess production of oil and blocked, enlarged pores, as can environmental pollutants.

How many Dermapen treatments do I need for reducing pore size?

Depending on size of the enlarged pores, we will typically recommend four sessions, five weeks apart. To drive superior skin results it’s also recommended you use active skincare products recommended by your therapist. In clinic we use the world’s first skincare range exclusively designed for safe infusion into the skin during skin needling procedures. It contains powerful ingredients to deliver skin improvement when it comes to reducing pore size.

Which products are recommended for use in improving signs of ageing and enlarged pores?

Your therapist will work with your skin goals to determine the best products for you. Protocol products for treating lines and wrinkles include hyaluronic acid for hydration and plumping the skin, moisturisers with peptides and antioxidants for skin strengthening and Vitamin A for rejuvenation. Combining home care product use with your Dermapen treatments will work to ensure you’re achieving optimum skin results for younger looking and smoother skin texture.
